Over twenty years ago, I started Dean Kahremanis Architects (DKA), serving in the role of lead design architect on all local, national, and International projects. While working-through many different project types, I strived to strengthen the relationships between client, architect, and contractor. I acquired curiosity about specific personality types that could positively or negatively impact the outcome of a project, and wondered why architects and contractors struggled to work together in harmony. Despite many successful projects, I perceived inherent flaws in the traditional design-bid-build model. This realization inspired me to push for change. As our philosophy evolved, we challenged traditional norms, driven by a commitment to improve the journey for clients, architects, and contractors. The firm's story unfolds as an evolution, turning obstacles into opportunities and using each project to drive industry change. With this new understanding, Parabola A+D is positioned at the forefront of transforming the architecture and construction industry, aiming to develop a more seamless and collaborative project design and delivery method.
Evolution of Parabola A+D
The journey of Parabola A+D began with a pursuit to comprehend and surmount the obstacles inherent within the traditional design-bid-build process. This led to a deep exploration beyond the realms of architecture, resulting in the study of real estate development at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Furthermore, in a bid to expand the understanding of the human mindset and its influence on architecture and real estate development, Transformational Neuroscience Certification was obtained through the guidance of Srini Pillay, M.D., Assistant Professor at the Harvard Medical School.
Armed with a wealth of knowledge gathered from extensive research and professional development, Parabola A+D was conceived as a deliberate and strategic response, by introducing a “Blue Ocean” innovative design and construction strategy model. The name "Parabola" finds its origins in the Greek word "parabolē," which denotes "placing side-by-side, application" derived from "para-" meaning beside and "bolē" signifying a throw. Parabola stands as a testament to the fusion of architecture and real estate development, where these disciplines are harmoniously placed side-by-side, each informing and enriching the other. Through this evolution, Parabola A+D is positioned at the forefront of redefining industry norms and heralds a new era where architecture and real estate development converge seamlessly to create transformative investment opportunities within the built environment.

The COVID Pandemic initiated a paradigm shift in how and where we choose to work. Forced isolation with immediate family members nearby, provided an opportunity to reevaluate our most important values. Therefore, we emerged with new career paths that enhance family and work life balance.
