In every design, he questions “the status quo”, innovates, and proposes new perspectives to his clients. His vision is to develop living environments that are eco-friendly, efficient, minimalist and yet poetic. He strives to solve functional and aesthetic aspects of each design problem, from small, well-designed housing solutions, to large-scale projects.
Mr. Arslan started his architectural career designing industrial facilities, offices/headquarters, automobile dealerships in Detroit, Michigan. Later on, he designed healthcare facilities such as Cancer Centers, MOB’s, In-patient units in addition to healthcare campuses in the Midwest. At the end of 2011, Mr. Arslan relocated to the West Coast. In 2012, Mr. Arslan took-up a challenge to build his own house in Medford, Oregon. This experience opened up his views about the architect’s role in planning, design and construction. Although designing a house may not be a significant challenge for an architect, purchasing vacant land, hiring and managing sub-contractors, and overseeing the entire design and construction process, turned-out to be an eye-opening experience. Next, Mr. Arslan created a new and challenging opportunity, by acquiring a general contractor’s license to establish a small residential development firm, EDRU Properties, Inc. in Oregon. Along with a private investor, he purchased, designed and developed vacant land. He built and sold compact, efficient and affordable homes, on the new plats created via land partition process. This experience was very successful.
In 2015, Mr. Arslan moved his family to the State of Washington. He practiced as a senior architect at a reputable high-end residential firm on Bainbridge Island, Washington. While designing and overseeing the construction of highly creative pacific northwest houses, he gained extensive knowledge of local municipal ordinances, and building codes within the State of Washington.
Mr. Arslan believes that an interdisciplinary approach is essential to address compounding problems of today’s dense and interconnected built environments. In 2020, Mr. Arslan graduated from the University of Washington, with a Master of Science, in Real Estate, where he acquired broader knowledge in real estate science, coupled with an interdisciplinary approach that is essential for any architect.
Mr. Arslan acquired his Master of Architecture degree from The University of Michigan, Taubman College of Architecture, in 1998.
